The Team
Join the Cumulative Effects Framework (CEF) GIS Team within the Collaborative Stewardship and Cumulative Effects Management Branch, where innovation, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making come together to support sustainable resource management across British Columbia. As part of an established and highly respected team, you will work alongside geospatial specialists, subject matter experts, and policy professionals to deliver trusted geospatial data, applications, and tools that inform planning, permitting, and resource management decisions. The team is recognized for its creativity, technical expertise, and commitment to adopting emerging GIS technologies while supporting collaboration across government, industry, and First Nations partners. In this role, you will contribute to meaningful work that has a province-wide impact and helps advance informed stewardship of BC’s natural resources.
The Role
The Geospatial Services Team Lead leads and manages the geomatics program for the Cumulative Effects Framework to ensure the delivery of services in support of program objectives and the Cumulative Effects Framework’s information needs.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in geomatics, resource management, geography, environmental science, or computer science or related area, OR
• Diploma in geographic information systems, OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
AND
• Minimum of five years of work experience supporting clients and/or project teams designing and developing spatial analysis solutions
• Minimum of five years of work experience in a role predominantly responsible for GIS analysis and mapping
• Minimum five years’ experience using ESRI GIS products
Preference may be given to applicants who have training and/or experience with:
• Supervising and/or leading geospatial-focused teams producing spatial products (geospatial analysis, automation, maps, web applications etc.)
• Managing, developing, and applying effective data management to spatial data
• Prepare and present strategic land and resource management spatial issues and recommendations to partners, stakeholders and/or senior management
• Manage multiple projects with competing priorities based on project management principles and best practices.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until 01/03/2028. This position may be extended or become permanent.
