The Team
The Integrated Data and Analysis Services (IDAS) Branch is a collaborative, service-focused team within GeoBC that helps steward environmental information and knowledge to support natural resource management and informed decision-making across the province. As the Regeneration Team Lead, you will be part of a new, highly skilled 20-person Northeast Human Disturbance project team, working alongside data experts and GIS professionals to advance a high-priority initiative that will improve understanding of the state and extent of human disturbance in Northeastern BC. The Role
As the Regeneration Team Lead, you will lead the development and evaluation of regeneration assessment data solutions in Northeastern BC, helping to create trusted data and methodologies that support important operational decisions across the natural resource sector. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-priority provincial initiative, collaborate with a wide range of clients, and develop products that will influence how similar work is carried out across British Columbia. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master's degree in a natural resource field and 2 years of *related experience, OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a natural resource field and 3 years of *related experience, OR
- Diploma in a natural resource field and 4 years of *related experience, OR
- An equivalent combination of education and *related experience may be considered.
*Related Experience includes all the following:
- Experience analyzing complex forestry, vegetation and/or related ecological geospatial data (including raster analysis) in support of natural resource management.
- Experience supporting clients and/or project teams designing and developing geospatial analytical solutions.
- Experience data modelling and product development using LiDAR, remote sensing, and/or satellite imagery with a strong foundation in optical and/or LidarR theory and applications.
Preferences may be given to applicants with 1 or more of the following:
- Experience with custom geospatial data modeling using GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS.
- Experience supervising and/or leading collaboratively across teams and agencies.
- Experience programming/scripting (e.g. Python, R, VBA, JavaScript etc.) for the purposes of data management, automation, visualization, and scientific communication.
- Experience with writing technical documentation (e.g. modelling methodologies, contract specifications, data processing procedures, etc.).
- Experience with project management, coordination, and delegation.
- Experience using remote sensing software (e.g. Solv3d, Google Earth Engine, Global Mapper, etc.).

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until May 31, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
