The Team
At Victoria Law Courts we are a dedicated and collaborative team responsible for managing both Provincial and Supreme Court matters in British Columbia. Our team of just over 50 people, including Court/Registry Clerks, Registry Technicians, Justices of the Peace, Deputy District Registrars, Supervisors and Managers, plays a critical role in ensuring access to justice through a strong partnership with the judiciary and other justice partners. We value teamwork, diversity, and the unique contributions of each member in supporting a fair and effective court system for the community.

The Role
The Administrator, Finance and Administration, is responsible for the daily administration of all financial services for the court registry.  The position supervises clerks and exercises control over 8 million dollars on the trust and revenue accounting operations.  The position administers the Witness Imprest Account and Petty Cash Account.  It provides administrative support by scheduling interpreters for court proceedings at the Law Courts. The Administrator makes independent judicial and administrative decisions in an integrated registry and requires an appointment as a Deputy District Registrar of the Supreme Court and Signing Officer for the Registrar of Small Claims.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent. 
  • 1 year of recent experience working in Court Administration. 
  • Experience in giving functional daily guidance and feedback to colleagues.
  • Experience using computers and software programs (e.g. Windows, Word, Excel, Civil and Criminal electronic tracking systems).
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain certification and appointment as a Deputy District Registrar of the Supreme Court within 6 months

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Recent Supervisory Experience
  • Experience working with courtroom technology and courtroom processes.
  • Experience working with Justice Information System (JUSTIN). 
  • Experience working with Court Clerk Desktop (CCD).
  • Experience working with Civil Electronic System (CEIS).  
  • Experience working with Accounts Receivable and Collection system (ARC). 

Provisos:

  • May be required to travel.
  • May be required to work in other areas of Court Services Branch.

About this Position:
This is a temporary/auxiliary opportunity until January 22nd, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
This position as full-time onsite requirements.
