The Team
The Verification and Audit Unit is a collaborative team of managers, team leads, senior auditors, auditors and junior audit officers who work closely with child care program staff to help ensure public child care funding is used appropriately. Team members value the impact of their work and bring different roles, perspectives and experience together to help make sure child care funding reaches people in British Columbia who are entitled to receive it.

The Role
In this Junior Verification and Audit Officer role, you’ll work with audit officers and team leads on all stages of straightforward audits, from getting started and reviewing information to communicating with clients about potential overpayments. You’ll build valuable audit and communication skills while working with a range of colleagues and child care funding recipients, and your work will help ensure public funds are used appropriately and remain available to people in British Columbia who are entitled to them.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (such as a GED).
  • One (1) year experience with Microsoft Office software (such as Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
  • One (1) year experience dealing with the public, internally and externally, via email and telephone.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) ore more of the following:

  • Completion of course work in accounting, finance, compliance, audit, or investigative fields.
  • Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations and/or policies.
  • Experience with general accounting and finance principles.
  • Additional years of experience in any of the above requirements and/or preferences.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and/or permanent vacancies.
Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
