Description

The Team
The Payment Services team is part of the Financial Management, Policy and Compliance branch within the Finance & Risk Management Division. The team supports the ministry by processing accounts payable transactions and helping ensure financial information is accurate, consistent, and aligned with government policies and procedures. Working in a collaborative environment, team members contribute to the delivery of financial services that support transportation and transit programs across British Columbia.

The Role
The Financial Clerk processes a variety of financial transactions, including invoices, reimbursements, journal vouchers, and account distributions, while also providing administrative support and preparing routine financial information. This role helps ensure suppliers are paid accurately and on time, supports reliable financial reporting, and contributes to the ministry's transportation and transit projects throughout the province. It offers practical experience in a collaborative environment and provides a strong foundation for a career in finance.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum one year of combined experience in relevant financial environment. Experience must include:
    • Providing exceptional customer service
    • Working with a computerized financial system
    • Strong experience working as a member of a team
    • Proficient in the use of MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook
  • Preference may be given to candidates that have experience with CAS Oracle.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
