Description
The Team
The Verification and Audit Unit is an established team responsible for auditing recipients of child care funding to ensure funds are spent appropriately. The team consists of a manager, two team leads, two senior auditors, nine auditors and two junior audit officers. Team members also work closely with child care program staff, particularly child care adjudicators. The unit plays an important role in ensuring provincial child care funding reaches eligible British Columbia residents and is used in accordance with funding requirements. Team members understand the impact of their work and take pride in contributing to the responsible use of public funds.
The Role
In this role, you will conduct audits of child care providers receiving provincial funding, including reviewing reported enrolments and analysing financial reports. You will identify overpayments and instances of non-compliance, helping recover funds that can be redirected to eligible recipients and ensuring providers meet the terms of their funding agreements. This opportunity offers hands-on experience in all aspects of the audit process, from developing and executing audit plans to collaborating with colleagues across ECC and engaging with child care providers. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Diploma or higher in business, finance, accounting or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a financial, accounting, auditing and/or evidentiary information gathering environment.
Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
- Government financial compliance, auditing or investigative experience.
- Experience in the education and child care sector.
- Additional years of experience in any of the above.

About this Position:
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 4 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
