The Team
The Mental Health Review Board (MHRB) is an established and passionate team committed to providing fair, timely, and independent reviews for people whose liberty is affected under the Mental Health Act. Working alongside the Board Chair, Registrar, finance clerk, case officers, navigator, and more than 70 Board members, you’ll contribute to a respectful and inclusive environment focused on access to justice, fundamental fairness, and public service integrity.

The Role
As the Director, Finance & Operations, you’ll lead the Board’s financial management, human resources, information systems, and business planning functions, ensuring responsible and effective practices that support its mandate. Working with considerable independence, you’ll lead a diverse team, build strong relationships with partners, and help ensure the Board can provide timely and accessible services to a vulnerable population, supporting more than 3,000 review panel hearing applications each year.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) Issued by a Canadian Accounting Association or eligibility to obtain a CPA designation within 6 months. An equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training may be considered. Note: if your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through an applicable Canadian Accounting Association.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in budget development and financial analysis.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the leadership and supervision of staff.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience developing and implementing policies and business processes.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing financial and contracted resources.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in change management of complex finance and information systems.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in business and strategic planning.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in policy and/or interpretation of legislation. Preference may be given for policy experience in a business environment.
  • Experience leading and managing projects.
  • Experience in planning and performance measurement. Preference may be given for planning and performance measurement experience in the public sector. 
  • Experience establishing collaborative trust-based relationships with key partners.
