The Team
The Child Care Strategy, Policy and Partnerships Branch is a passionate and collaborative team working on some of British Columbia's most important child care priorities. Within the Indigenous Policy and Intergovernmental Relations unit, you'll work alongside experienced policy professionals who are committed to advancing reconciliation, strengthening partnerships, and improving access to high-quality early learning and child care services for children and families across the province. The team values relationship-building, learning, and innovation, and offers a supportive environment where new ideas and professional growth are encouraged.

The Role
As a Junior Policy Analyst, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful policy work that supports Indigenous early learning and child care initiatives and intergovernmental partnerships. You'll conduct research, analyze information, support engagement activities, coordinate projects, and help develop briefing materials and policy recommendations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in public policy while gaining hands-on experience working with Indigenous partners, government stakeholders, and senior decision-makers. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, Public Administration, Business Administration, Early Childhood Education, or a related field and no formal work experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Law, Public Administration, Business Administration, Early Childhood Education, or a related field and 6 months of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in Social Sciences, Law, Public Administration, Business Administration, Early Childhood Education, or a related field and 1 year related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in Social Sciences, Law, Public Administration, Business Administration, Early Childhood Education, or a related field and 2 years related experience; OR
  • Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and 3 years related experience; OR
  • Evergreen and 4 years related experience OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


*Related Experience includes

  • Experience working in a related field of business, such as policy analysis, intergovernmental relations, Indigenous relations, project coordination, and research.
  • Experience defining, researching, and analyzing a policy problem or issue using various methods. 
  • A combination of *related experience gained in a professional workplace, volunteer, or academic setting may be considered.


Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one (1) or more of the following:

  • Preference may be given to self-identified Indigenous applicants (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit).
  • Experience working with First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit people.
  • Experience working on provincial policies and/or programs in a public sector environment.
  • Experience working in the Early Learning and Child Care sector.
  • Experience working with the principles of inclusion and equity.
  • Additional years of experience in any of above job requirements and/or preferences.

About this Position:
Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved Telework Agreement. The position headquarters will be Victoria or Vancouver.
